Custom Framing: 3 Reasons To Use Multiple Mats And Make A Stunning Statement
Custom Framing gives us an opportunity to pick a beautiful frame and make a visual statement with your art!
One of the elements when we design a frame for someone’s art is using mats and here is why:
A mat prevents your art from touching the glass, so it doesn’t stick to the glass and it holds your art flat in place without having to permanently mount it. That is part of preserving your art!
It also creates space between art and frame which can be nice and help make your art stand out and make it the centerpiece.
With multiple mats you can mix and match colors. You can pick up one color or the art and drop it as a thin line in an undermat, like we did for one of the mats that we picked up from the yellow bike. Here is another great example for using mat from our blog
You can even use a thick 8 ply mat and use one or several regular mats as undermats to create even more depth and visual statements. When you zoom into one of the mat cut corners you can really see the beautiful sleek bevel we love so much as framers!
