Custom Framing: How to design a new frame and taking hints for color choices from your art

natural wood custom picture frame for art prints

When you are ready to custom frame some of your art that’s sitting around for a while and you get to your local frame shop you are sometimes faced with a lot of framing choices. So how to make this choice a little easier?

Take a few hints from your art! Look at the colors that speak to you most! In this beautiful “Palm Life” print by Erik Abel, our client wanted to add a bit of orange to the frame design. So we pulled that color into a core mat that frames it nicely without taking over.

We then decided on a natural wood color with grain that hints on the overall feel and colors of the art!

Because at Underglass, we focus on conservation framing materials and techniques, this relaxing, fun vibe print is now preserved for generations to come. Be sure to check out @abelarts !
