Framing the Fabulous: Dior Luxe in our Castro Frame Shop

At Underglass Custom Framing, we love when clients bring us unique treasures — the kind of pieces that carry both aesthetic and personal value. This framing project was a perfect example: a limited edition Christian Dior “Around the World” butterfly motif shopping bag, a collectible known for its intricate floral and butterfly design with the Dior name forming a butterfly shape at the center.

Our client wanted to highlight the beauty and luxury of the design while keeping it in line with their personal style and home décor. We built a gold-themed shadow box, drawing on the brand’s signature opulence. To create a tailored fit, we traced the exact shape of the bag and handle, cutting a matching mat. The bag sits on a gold-finish mat, with a crisp white mat on top so the gold appears only as an outline and is also covering the inside of the frame walls — an elegant reveal that frames the design without overwhelming it.

We carried this color story into the frame itself, stacking two frames: a gold outer frame and a second, white-finished frame inset inside, showing just a sliver of white. The result feels cohesive, refined, and distinctly Dior.

Like all our projects, this shadow box was built to museum-quality standards — conservation-grade materials, UV-filtering glazing, and fully reversible techniques. That means the piece will retain its beauty for years to come without damage or deterioration.
