Framing the Trees of San Francisco: Local Art Meets Thoughtful Design

At Underglass Custom Picture Framing in San Francisco, we’re celebrating 40 years of framing art and stories in the Castro!

This piece feels like such a love letter to San Francisco. Nine trees, each sketched on an afternoon walk through the city — the kind of everyday beauty you notice while wandering from Dolores to Golden Gate Park, or just turning a corner in your own neighborhood. The artist even marked down each location, making the work part art, part map, part memory. It’s exactly the kind of local street art we love to see collected by San Franciscans who care about place, detail, and the small joys that root us in our city.

For this frame project, we kept the design thoughtful yet understated. The artwork was floated above a crisp white mat, allowing its edges to cast a natural shadow. To ensure conservation-quality care, we used a ⅛-inch spacer so the paper wouldn’t touch the glass.

The frame itself is a textured wood veneer with warm brown tones — a nod to the tree trunks in the painting, while keeping the overall look clean and modern for today’s homes.

✨ At Underglass Custom Picture Framing in San Francisco, we frame it all — from local art and posters to fine art, collectibles, and personal keepsakes. For 40 years, we’ve been proud to give each piece museum-quality care and San Francisco style.
